I am looking for the cemetery where James Burnside/Cathrine Howe are buried and James' father and grandfather. Also, there is a Samuel, a Mary, and an Elder Burnside living with my James in 1860, does anyone know their father's name?

What part of the county did they live in and what time period were they alive?

Sorry I did not give all the info needed. James and his wife lived and died in the Slippery Rock area of Butler Coo. PA. My Robert's naturalization papers were filled in Beaver Co., PA in 1825.

Samuel Burnside was married to my GGAunt Mahala Gallagher daughter of James C. Gallagher of Prospect, Franklin Twp., Pa. It's possible that your Burnsides could be buried there.

Carl, Have we been in contact before? Your Mahalia was a sister to my Amelia?

Carl,

This Samuel BURNSIDE, b. ca. 1836, was my greatgranduncle. His younger sister, Mary Jane, b. ca. 1842, was my greatgrandmother. I would be very much interested in anything you might have concerning Samuel's ancestry. I am especially interested in trying to find his parents. These BURNSIDE children, Samuel, James, Mary Jane, and Elder, were living with the Adam LINTON family in Muddy Creek in 1850, suggesting that they may have been orphaned at an early age.

Hi Paul,
My records show Mahala J. Gallaher (Gallagher) married Samuel Burnside on Oct. 19, 1854. Have to research more to see if they had any children. Also, will try to find the
name of his parents. My email is: sherwood312003@yahoo.com

Hi Paul,
My email: sherwood312003@yahoo.com

I sent it to you before but incase something happened you did not get you will need it. The reason is I need to forward an email I received about Samuel Burnside from Mary Harmon of the "Prospect Area Preservation Society". She filled in alot of his family. Several years ago I had a customer with the name Burnside but did not realize what the name meant at the time. I believe she still lives there but could have moved back to Florida where came from to Butler. Will have to check. Carl Gallagher

Carl,

Thank you so much for the information. All my records have vanished during my last five moves. I had the birth and death dates for James and Catharine but could not remember where they were buried - although I did visit the area about 25 years ago. I had James' father as Alexander S. but do not have a name for his mother. Does the S stand for Samuel? Also, was Alexander S's father Robert?

My great grandmother was James' and Catherine's child - Frances Isabelle and assume you descend from one of her sisters. Do you also have Howe information?

Looking forward to hearing from you and many thanks again for writing.

Linda

Carl,

Tried again but it still didn't get to you. My email is ljholley@comcast.net. Perhaps a better address might be ljholley@gmail.com they are not picky about things that look as if they are spam and if it does I can retrieve it from my spam box. Thank you!

Linda
