For those of you who have met me online or not, my name is Sharon Lewis Manning. I am a direct descendant of the Ipock family. My grandmother was Harriet O'Dera Ipock and married a Noe. I would like to share some of the Ipock early history with all of you who use this message board. I AM SOMEHOW KIN TO YOU - Let me explain - The surname Ipock is one that is not easily found or traced - there aren't that many of them. Very early history indicates that there was a known man named Vallentine Ibach and a Jacob Eibach from Germany. It is also spelled Eueach. Vallentine is listed in the 1716 census - from Germany to England as being age 22 and a wheelwright. The Germans left along with the Swiss about this time for England and first arrived to St. Catherine's on May 6, 1709. They didn't come to the USA first - they left Germany and went to England first. Upon leaving for the USA about 600 Swiss and 300 or so Germans (the Ipocks) purposefully left for New Bern in Craven County. In 1712-1715 there was a Tuscarora Indian war and some of the Swiss and Germans were killed in this war. There is strong evidence to support the fact that some survived and lived among the indians and intermarried. This is where the Cherokee descent comes in - Tusc. Indians and Algonquin indians are of the Cherokee bloodline. If you could see my family, you'd understand. There's not an Ipock living today that wouldn't tell you they are part Cherokee; they know it; it's been handed down for many generations. My grandmother was born an Ipock; 5 ft 8 or better, very large frame, long black hair when she was younger, very high cheekbones. She always told us all that she was part Cherokee. I've been online with some of you out there in cyberland and can hardly wait to meet you one day - Some have asked about my email address and ability to receive video email, videos, pictures, etc. Yes, I can receive all of this and I can also transmit the same.
