They may have been able to interloan books from within the county, maybe ordered other books in. They would not have been able to loan research material such as microfilm of newspapers or similar. What was it from Doncaster that you were interested in?
Also, have you been able to narrow down or find a date for the event that may be in the Spalding Papers?
