Thats it!
As soon as I looked on Google I remembered as a kid we would walk up through the jitty and public foot path up pit lane. If you follow along that path there was an old pit shaft. I just called dad as they live just off Pinfold Lane and he has lived there all his life. He said it was called Lane End but he did not remember the Ashmore name.
His grandad ran the pub and he helped out so knew quite a lot of people.
The old houses were demolished and rebuilt before 1968 when I lived there anyway.
