Dear Rhoda, Sorry, I can't really help you, my William Boyle is being very hard to trace !. I have him married to an Isabella Foster in Girvan 1852. On the 1861 census he gives his age as 37 and place of birth as Dailly.( dob c. 1824 )I can find no trace of him. Curiosly, I have also received an e-mail today from Anita Lorenz, searching for a James Boyle and Eliza Campbell. They were married in Kirkoswald on 10/7/1835. If I find out any more I'll let you know. Regards from a very wet and windy Kirkoswald. Margaret.

I am new at this and don't know if there is any connection but here goes. My great grandfather, Alexander Shearer, was born in the Glasgow area, possibly Irvine, on 12/14/67, and married Jeanie Thompson Kerr on 8/31/88. Their children were Alexander ( Sandy), Mary Dale, Janet (Jenny), Jeanie, Ann, and John Kerr. My great grandmother Jeanie died on 11/3/-1 at the Victoria Infirmary. Note: Ann is my grandmother who bore my father James Grant Shearer out of wedlock. She later maried Andrew Hendry and had two sons before she died at the Kilmarnick Infirmary on 3/29/22. I would love to get information on that branch. But back to Alexander Shearer. He married again in 3/6/03 to Margaret Robb Harrison. They had two children, Richard Thomas and Archibald. They immigrated to the U.S. by 1925 and settled in Detroit, Michigan. Margaret, also previously widowed, had two children from her previous marriage, Andy (Andrew?), and Martha (Mattie/Pattie) Watson. I have more info on these but will await a response. Thank you.

I am tracing John Boyle whose birth on 30 May 1822 was registered in Girvan, Ayrshire. I think his parents, John Boyle and Helen Hunter probably lived in Kirkoswald. There were at least two other children Allan and Helen whose births were registered in Kirkoswald. John married Agnes (also known as Jane) McHoull (McHowell) of Girvan in June 1844. They moved to The Gorbals in Glasgow where two children Allan and an unknown child were born before emigrating to the Colony of Victoria in Australia between 1852 and 1853.
