Well, I received my order today. It was quickly handled, I'll say that much.

The information I received was from the Illinois Civil War Muster and Descriptive Rolls Database. The information was for Peter Barbear, and it is as follows:
Name Barbear, Peter
Rank Pvt.
Company K
Unit IL US INF
Residence none listed
Age 38
Height 5'9"
Hair Brown
Eyes Blue
Complexion Dark
Marital Status none listed
Occupation Laborer
Nativity France
Joined when Oct 3, 1864
Joined where Chicago, IL
Joined by Whom Cpt James
Period 1 year
Muster in Oct 3, 1864
Muster in Where Chicago, IL
Muster in by Whom Cpt James
Muster out Sep 25, 1865
Muster out Where Camp Irwin, TX
Muster out by Whom Cpt Wilson
Remarks Sub for Philip Schroenk

All other information such as Residence, Last Paid, etc. were left blank.

This is the extent of the information forwarded to me, and I can't even be positive this is my g-grandfather, Peter Barbie, although he was born in France, he lived in Chicago, and the age seems about right. So my guess is that this is probably him.

Kerry, thanks again for the education. Sorry I couldn't have given you better news, but that's pretty much what I expected.
