Iam doing Metis familt lines and have the noted family names in my history and am especially searching for the roots of one Joseph Ladouceur born approx. 1780's in I'isle Perreault, P.Q. Any help please contact me.

Hi Millie, My name is Leandra Gilmour and I am the daughter of Mary Jane Powder(Bouchier). I have just started my search and believe we have alot of names in common. Here are some names in my line:Powder, Bouchier, Shot, Fousseneuve, Auger, Cardinal, Ladouceur, Bellerose, McKinney etc... Most of us are from the surrounding areas of Edmonton, Fort McMurray, Fort Chip., Lac LaBiche. I have a cousin in the NWT who has done extensive searches and knows alot. I am related by marriage to Lizotte and House from Alberta. I have found that Powder and Lapoudre are the same family name. Chalifoux's used Jalifoux and Gladu. Blandion's used Dion, Blayon. Campion's used Sapen. Laboucane's used Lafournaise. Bouchier's used Boucher. The lists goes on, but this may be of some help. My husband's family is from Albert and are of native decent.

My husband's great grandmother was Madeline Auger she was married to Alexander House (also spelled Howse). Madeleine's parent's were William Auger and Catherine Cardinal. Catherine Cardinal's parents were Antoine Mustatip Cardinal and Cecile Boucher

I have found 15,000 relatives so far. Most of the family memeber came over from France, Scotland or England. Once they settled in Canada, alot of them moved to Alberta. There is a place in Edmonton and one in Calgary that I know of that has alot of information on the families that settled in Alberta. My husband and I plan to go to Edmonton and see what we came find there. I do have a few papers that we got in the Archieves in Northern Alberta about the Powders, House, Auger , Lambert and Lizotte families. We also went to a church where we got some baptism cert. I could e-mail you some of the stuff about the Powder family that I got. Terry
