BOWEN, Douglas David "Doug" - 80, North Albert St., New Glasgow, passed away Tuesday, October 10, 2000, in the Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Little Harbour, he was a son of the late John James and Effie Lena (Pye) Bowen. He began working at Trenton Works Gun Shop, leaving in1942 to join the armed services, serving in Canada where he obtained the rank of Lance Corporal. After the Second World War he was employed with the former Pictou County Power Board, Nova Scotia Power, first class linesman and inspector, retiring after 38 years due to ill health. He was a member, Elder and former member of the Board of Managers of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, New Glasgow. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 34, New Glasgow, a 45 year member of Eculid Lodge 92 AF&AM, New Glasgow and Century Chapter No. 10, Order of The Eastern Star. Douglas was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather, who enjoyed all life had to offer. Surviving are his wife, Olive "Ollie" (Hingley) Bowen; daughters, Darleen (David) Horne, Oshawa, Ont.; Melda (John) MacMillan, Hampton, N.B.; Ruthie (David) Lamb, Ottawa; brothers, Frank (Isabel), Little Harbour; Sylvester (Doreen), Doncaster, England; grandchildren, Janet O'Donnell, Chris Horne, Tanya Hunter, Brett MacMillan, Allison and Clarissa Lamb; great-grandchildren, Brendan, Ashlee, Breaden Hunter, Linden and Grace O'Donnell; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, David Raymond; sisters, Reta (Angus Sr.) Baillie, Alice Hubley (Archie); brother, Clarence (Effie), Clyde (Kay). Visitation will be 2-4, 7-9 p.m. today in P.&K. MacDonald Funeral Home, New Glasgow. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Rev. James Farris and Rev. Bruce Munro officiating. Interment will be in Church Brook
