HI Garrett,
I came across your message regarding James Tobin. I am researching my Tobin line on my father's side. My grandfather was a William Tobin however, he was adopted and grew up by the name William Mason. His line goes like this:
My grandfather was William Tobin (Mason).
My great grandfather was William Tobin married Rosalie Callahan.
My great, great grandfather was James Tobin married Hilda unknown.

I am told that this Tobin family moved from Champney's East, Trinity Bay, NF to St. :John's, NF and lived on Goodview Street.

More about this Tobin Line:

Chidren of William Tobin and Rosaline Callahan:
1. Ethel Tobin
2.. Isabel Tobin
3. William Tobin born 1916.

Children of James Tobin and Hilda unknown
1. Ethel Tobin
2. William Tobin
3. Bertha Tobin
4. Rachel Tobin
5. Nell Tobin
6. Hilda Tobin
7. Susan Tobin
8. Gert Tobin

I do not have very much information on the Tobin's. I sure would appreciate any help, it is very difficult because my grandfather William Tobin Mason was adopted.

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Hi Tobin researchers
Are any of your Tobin's related to the Tobin's on Bell Island. Bell Island is about a 1/2 hour ferry ride from Portugal Cove then a 1/2 hour drive from St. John's. When the mines on the island was in operation it was a very busy place. Men from all over Nfld moved there to work in the mines. Good luck.

Tish

John:

I am very interested in your St. John's Heaney's.
Am trying to tie together the Heaney's from Plate Cove. THere were also Heaney's in Stock Cove, and as far as I can tell they are from the Plate Cove Heaney's. I've not been able to see a connection between the St. John's Heaney's and those from Plate Cove.
I was hoping you could help me.
Thanks
Jeri
