I have information on Careys (Carrie, Carie, Cary, etc.) in Ayrshire, including the Kilmarnock area. Can you be more specific on what you are lookign for? I also have Thomsons in my line, descended from the baker Henry Thomson of Beith

Well I have nearly 1200 Carey records in the database spanning the years 1700 to 1905. I would be happy to extract some for you, but a name or date range would make it easier.

Sorry, butthe records I mentioned are all for Scotland where my Careys originated, as far back as I can determine. I have no information on Careys in Quebec, apart from the time my family spent in McMasterville in the early part of this century before they moved to Ontario.

I am as far as George Gebbie fisherman m. Janet Bishop 1820; both buried Riccarton churchyard; 5 children baptised; 3 children emigrated to Australia.

I have an ancestor Charles Carey, b. 1803 Portsmouth to a military family. He married a Scottish woman, Patience MacLeod sometime before 1825 and settled at the Harrow School after his stint with the army, until his death in 1890. I haven't been able to locate the origins of his family. Does he fit into your Scottish clan? Thanks for the help!

I've just found your entry re George Gebbie & Janet Bishop.
This George Gebbie was my GGG Grandfather. One of his sons was George Gebbie born 1827 Ayrshire & apparently married a french woman in Gibraltar during his service there with the 26th Cameronians.

I am from Australia.
