And of course, since we're talking about 8th cousins vs. what was predicted, when we're dealing with endogamy, it varies quite a bit.
Bennett Greenspan was able to look at my mother's matches and was surprised at her close matches like uncle-niece and aunt-niece, plus 1st - 2nd (1 1/3 pages) & 1st - 3rd predictions (3 additional pages) yet not have trees that recently (as far as I know) intersect. Not to mention he was more surprised that when I told him some of these matches, both they and their ancestors have been separated more than 3,000 miles away on isolated islands for over 5 centuries.
If I were to look at the longest block, a woman who lives in New Zealand and whose ancestors have been there since the beginning of its history, compared to my mother (& me) who have been in Hawaii since the beginning when it was first populated), their longest shared block is 50.9cM. THey share 51 segments and 266.94cM. My mother's 2nd top match (after me) is another Maori (native New Zealander) woman and they share 617.93cM (predicted aunt/niece/1st cousin).
So there are a lot of variables to consider. But again, with endogamy, very tricky in prediction.
