OK, The problem with the Edwards' is they all have the same names!!!!!
The Daniel you have listed (wife Mahala) is John and Nancy's son. John being Squires brother. Squire's son Daniel was indeed a conf. soldier, and his wife was Elizabeth.
I also have doubts that Squire Jr. died from wounds from the Civil War, as the war had ended by 1864 and he died in 1930.
The Edward you have listed is also Squire's brother.
However, the birth date is right for Squire's son Edward.
Your Edward died at 21, far to young to be a father of six children.
Squire's son Edward married Lucy Burke and had one child William Emmett (this is my line).Edward was a conf. soldier.
As for the other Brothers,
Auguste - conf.(captured at Piedmont)
Squire-union
John- union
Daniel- conf
Edward-conf.

Edward died shortly after the war and birth of his son.
Gus returned to Madison County and became town Marshall.
At one point (The during a huge fued) Dan and John were sworn deputies and had battle. The Edwards met in front of the Garrnett House on 2nd St. (Richmond) - after the gun battle, Walter Sanders and Tuck Ballard were killed and John was wounded. For weeks, the threat was made to "clean up the Edwards" but it subsided with no further threats.

I may be tied into this line somehow but I'm not sure how. I have a "Gattie" Edwards born 1/17/1847 possibly located in that area. She married a Henry Reitzel and their daughter Tatus Velner Reitzel was born in Siler City, Chatham Co, NC in 1879.

Is it possible she is tied in with the Edwards from the line you're discussing?

I don't have anything on a Gattie or Henry Reitzel. But the Edwards were a large clan in NC. I will look through some old files and see if I can find anything that could help.
They are all related - but how they get together is a fun adventure. I hope I can help you

Hi Kathy,

This is the header on a result I got a few hours ago from a google search:

This is Google's cache of
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~eazier1/Ea.... It is a snapshot of the page as it appeared on Sep 5, 2009 01:49:31 GMT.
These search terms are highlighted: monroe co in
These terms only appear in links pointing to this page: abel edwards [Not true -- these terms DO appear on this page but weren't found and highlighted for some reason. JRE]

I know there were Easts in the neighborhood of my Abel in monroe co, IN. In fact, one of them married Abel's wife's brother, Aaron Greene Bennett [and so became my gg-aunt?].

Edward Edwards and Edward H Edwards are mentioned in this East biography. In a note, the statement is made that there were two Edwards families in Stokes Co in 1810, Abel and Edward Edwards. I would appreciate it if you would check out the Edward Edwards and Abel Edwards [who married one of the East girls] mentioned and let me know what you think. Especially, whether they conflict or agree with what you already know, whether they are new to you, any conclusions or opinions on their connections to what you already know.

I haven't stopped to figure out the interconnections mentioned and whether they fit with my ancestors. I will let you know what I come up with.

Maybe we should take this 'off line' -- to e-mail?

Later,

Ralph
