Re: Pioneer family 1800's
Hi Dave, You've got Emery's wives backward. Angelique Biron was his first wife. They had three daughters,Mary, who married Charles Grover and died in the 1890's,Angelique,who married Herbert Bennett, and is in the 1901 census living next door to her father.I can't find her after that. And finally Sophie or Sophia born in 1868,I'm not sure about what happened to her. I have information that she married a Noel McKay and lived on Sugar island but another source has that Sophia in a different Boissoneau family. His second wife,my gr.grandmother was Angelique Belval,Bellval,Bellevalle. Take your pick. Gary Bishop says BELVAL. I would really like to solve the mystery of Sophia. Do you have any information on her. Thanks Flo from B.C.

Re: Pioneer family 1800's - Francois Belvalle & Angelique Lemai
There is a record of a a marriage between Francois Belvalle & Angelique Lemai in Penetanguishene on July 5, 1841. (St. Ann's) According to the transcription she was a widow. This is taken from the marriage repertoire of Lafontaine (St. Croix 1856 to 1983); Perkinsfield (St Patrick) 1909 to 1982) and Penetanguishene (St. Ann's) 1835 to 1982). I will check at the local library for the cemetery records to see if I can find when her husband died or maybe her parents.

Re: Pioneer family 1800's
HI David, Henry was not Emery's son he was his grandson. I know everything you read says he is a son but I think he was an illegitimat son of philomene's. His name was Henry Byers according to my mother.I don't know if he married. I think he stayed in Ontario.Sara married and lived in Bellingham,Wash. She died young,I have information about her but I'm not sure where.I'll look for it. As for Leon I think you have more information than me. I've only got what everybody ese has on Joseph. Athough I was in S.S.M.in October and saw Delores Pinder. She said there's no record of his death. There's an old story of him and others running off some americans that were doing something on indian land and ended up in jail in toronto and was maybe hung. Have you heard anything like that? Flo

Re: Pioneer family 1800's - Francois Belvalle & Angelique Lemai
Thank you for that information. Is there anyway I can access those records? It would be great if you could find information in the cemetary records. I did read in the list of people in Penetanquishene that she also had the name Quebec in brackets behind her name.Any information about the two of them would be greatly appreciated. Is she related to you at all?

Re: Pioneer family 1800's - Francois Belvalle & Angelique Lemai
Hello Flo - first off I am not related to Francois or Angelique. I came across the message boards of Pioneers to Ontario as I was searching for family that were migrated from Drummond Island just south a little of St. Joseph Island. It was ceded to the United States after the war of 1812. I did find a couple of items that may help you in your search. One is for Isabella Lemai buried in St. Ann's in Penetang died March 18, 1887 aged 47yrs, 1 mo. & 3 days wife of Amable Charlebois. Found an Amable married an Eliz. Lemai in Quebec in 1861 ?? Found a marriage for Abram Charlebois son of Abram & Isabella on Sept. 1889 in Algoma district. Also found a burial for a Mary/wife of/Henry Belvall/died July 24, 1907 aged 65. Hope some of this helps in your search.

Re: Pioneer family 1800's
Hi Flo: I have heard the story of a possible hanging in Toronto, but the story I heard was it was Leon that may have been hung or killed??? As for old Joseph his dad, I have a copy of his last will and testament he made in 1867. In this will he refers only to his last three children (children of Joseph and Anne Mikkisabanokwe) he gives Lucy Boissoneau Lambert (husband Edward Lambert)a large parcel of his land on the St.Mary's River, (Queen St.)Mary Boissoneau Gravelle (husband Charles Gravelle) a large parcel of land North of Lucy's property, and Leon Boissoneau (not married to Harriette Biron yet) a parcel on the St. Mary's River shore. Lucy and her sister Mary declined the properties their dad willed them, and gave their parcels to Leon. thus Leo Avenue is named in his honor. I have always wondered why old Joseph does not refer once to any of the 6 boy's he and Marguritte Guillmond had. Is this what caused the riff in the family many years ago? At one time Joseph Jr. and mary Ross Boyer lived o this land and their son Joseph and Mary Apaquash did as well but none of them are mentioned in the will??? Henry Pilgrim and Charles Pim are listed the executors of the estate. i wonder if there are records of those incarcerated and hung in Toronto?? Will talk soon.
