Like all German Immigrants of the time, and from that part of Germany, all they wanted was to work their farms, raise their families, and be as far away from the powers that be as they could.
Mostly what I know about the land grant is, that 220 acres were given to Johann "John" Widener. This land took in a lot of the central part of the Valley, and ran to the south bank of the Holston "Holstein" river. What are your Parents, Grandparents, GGrandparents, and GGGrandparents names. I have pretty extensive files. Would like to see where we fall in.
I used to ask my Granddad if we were kin to such and such a Widener. He always responded that they were a whole different bunch. But I have found that we all procede From the same man, John Widener.
There were three men who came into Widener Valley together; they were, John Widener, Paulser Rouse, and John Jones. The Wideners and Rouses are still there, I do not know of any Jones.
I went to Liberty Hall, and Holston High. I would guess that you lived in the Meadowview area, and I suspect that one of your ancestors was Elijah "Lige" Widener. He moved early into the Meadowview area.
