Bobby,

Would like to tell you it is the same family, but I don't think it is. My great great grandfather, Ludwig (Louis) Armbruster moved first to Cincinnati (probably in the late 1860's) and later to Lawrenceburg, IN. One of his brothers (Anton) moved on to Arizona and never married. Another (Valentine) moved to California. The third "brother" is more likely a sister (Mary Ann) who married William Ihle and settled in Illinois.

My aunt said there were three brothers, but other researchers believe it was two brothers and a sister as outlined above. Ludwig, Valentin, and Anton had a brother Willhelm but we believe he never left Germany.

There must have been a LOT of Armbrusters in Baden. And of course, there were plenty of Armbrusters who ended up in Pennsylvania and in Ohio.

It is possible we are related but not in the U.S. BTW, my Armbruster ancesters come from Fautenbach amt Achern for about five generations before they came to the U.S.

When you say yours came from Baden, are you referring to the city or the state?

I do not research Armbrusters a lot these days because I am working on other branches, but I will keep you in mind as I do research because I sure our searches will overlap.

Good luck,
Cathy
