I think he might not have gotten on because you said he didn't match up with the "official" line; John Alden on the Mayflower. If it was just a Alden project then if you didn't match at least you might get some leads on your real line back. Or, whose to say if you could prove your Alden line on paper but someone along the way wasn't true to their mate. Who knows until your tested enough people from that line to know it. I could be looking for a shoe salesman working at Fields Store in Jackson, MI around 1947.
