Thank you for the data on the war of 1812. The John Biggs in Blount Co., TN is no relation to the John Biggs of Sumner County. In fact we are looking for 3 John Biggs that were in Sumner once upon a time.
John Biggs #1 was born ca 1745 in North Carolina and died ca 1833 in Lincoln Co., TN. He left Sumner Co., TN ca 1825/6 and came to Lincoln Co. with John Biggs #3 and Adam Biggs- presumed grandsons.
John Biggs #2, son of John #1, was b. ca 1760-70 in N.C. and was in Robertson and Sumner County sometime prior to 1803. John Biggs#2 disappears from the scene sometime between 1805 to 1820. His children were apparently raised by Grandpa, John Biggs #1.
John Biggs # 3, son of John Biggs #2 was born in Sumner or Robertson Co., TN ca 1803 and was last found in Newton CO., Missouri 1860 census. His brother, Adam Biggs, b. 1795 also went to Newton CO., Missouri and died there between 1870/1880. Both John #3 and Adam Biggs married in Sumner Co., TN. My ancestor is Mourning Biggs, b. 1792 Edgecombe Co., N.C., sister to John and Adam. She moved to Newton CO., Missouri also. She married Abraham Martin while residing in Sumner or Robertson Co., TN. No record of their marriage has been found but was around 1812.
At present I do not know the name of the wife of John Biggs # 1 and #2.
What is meant by South of the Ohio? Is that Ohio State or Ohio River? Thanks again.
