There are a couple of lists (partial) on the Glengarry County Genweb. Also George Sandfield Macdonald's Scribble Books posted may have some additional notes. Interestingly GSM had noted my 3rd & 4th Greatgrandfather (Allan Sandfield Macdonald & son Alexander) as being on the Cochrane then later changed it to Macdonald. GSM interviewed the oldest people in Glengarry in the 1880's and noted their recollections. As to the Cochrane being name of Captain, it is possible. We have two names for the Ship Macdonald for example, Sandaig being the tackname of one of the leading men. Lucille Campey who has written several books on emigration from Scotland would probably be the best source, she wrote one on Glengarry. I have a copy but not handy right now. You might also find the original 1789 lists of lots of Charlottenburgh, etc interesting. A bit hard to read but is sorted by 1st letter and gives lot and conc #'s and size of grants.
