Hi Jane,

When my GGG-Grandfather, Joseph L. Perry, died in 1844-45, my GGG-Grandmother, Mary Ann Brown Perry, married Andrew Jackson Odom on August 30, 1845. In 1847, the Odoms moved from Dooley County to Baker County, Georgia. Together, Andrew and Mary Ann had 18 children, the bulk of them still living at home. My GG-Grandfather, Redmon A. Perry, was only 2 years old at this time. Simon Peter Odom would have been eleven at this time, so both children were raised together for a period of time as step-brothers. I wonder where one went for quiet time in that household? Good luck on your search...

I am so glad to hear about Andrew Jackson's life after he left Dooley County, GA! Do you have dates and/or documentation about his second family and Redmon A. Perry? Did Redmon have any other Perry siblings? If you like, I can share information on Simon Peter Odom and his family. It was great to hear from you!

It is great to hear from you! We were stumped for a couple of years on Simon Odom's family and so we are glad to hear about his siblings. I would love to have the information on Malinda Odom and her decendants, and in turn, I can give you information about Simon Peter Odom and his decendants. This may take me a while due to the holidays, and to some personal business I have to take care of. I know I will be back to doing genealogy work by the middle of January, 2001, so I can send you the information then. Thanks again!

Jane

You have one child listed who was actually a nephew: JOHN REDDEN ODOM was the son of Andrew's brother, REDDEN (Reddin). Andrew's name was just ANDREW ODOM Senior (did NOT include a middle name. His son was named Andrew Jackson ODOM , after President Andrew Jackson and was usually referred to as Andrew Jackson ODOM Jr. Andrew Sr. and his brother REDDEN were sons of JACOB ODOM, all of Sampson County, NC. Andrew Sr. and his first cousin, MEREDITH ODOM came to southwest Georgia sometime in the early 1840's. John REDDEN ODOM Sr. came at the same time.
There are still ODOM kinfolk of ours in Sampson County

Jane, I am a direct descendant of JOHN REDDEN ODOM. I am also the founder and president of the ODOM Family Association. I have been doing research as a hobby on ALL Odoms now for 50 years. I also founded the ODOM Family National Reunion in 1980.

Carolyn, I have Simon's civil pension papers but nothing about the American Revolution. Which child of Simon's is your ancestor? Jane
