Joseph Stanton married Sophia Johnson on December 8, 1831. The stanton families seemed to have moved to washington County from New York state. There are several families with ties to each other in the 1840 listings. There is no Sophia stanton listed in the 1840 census. She must have died prior to 1840. There are several grown kids in the 20-24 age range who may have moved the family west after 1845.
