Hi - I do believe we corresponded before - it is good to be back in touch.
JR Flaherty was my Great Grandfather - why I wrote in an earlier part of this thread that he was my grandfather, I do not know! The information I wrote about when he married Patricia Updyke is correct: Aug 8, 1897. Their children together Elsie (July 18, 1898- March 24, 1974) and your Grandpop Timothy (Aug 10,1900-Feb 1972).
Patricia Updyke was born in Williamstown,KY on 2/25/1875 and died on 4/9/1941 in Louisville, KY. She was the daughter
of Cearn & Nathaniel Updyke. I ASSUME that JR Flaherty died prior to her marriage to Marion A. Williams on March 4, 1903. I also make the assumption that my grandmother Lula would have spent time in an orphanage after JR died.
Patricia & Marion A.Williams had 3 daughters: Bertha in 1904, Nellie in 1913 & Helen in 1918. Marion A Williams was 45 when he married Patricia. He died on Feb 8, 1918 at age 60. Sadly, Helen was not born until Aug 1918. Mr Williams had 2 sons from a previous marrige: Frank & Richard. So this should fill in some information for you about half-siblings & some step-siblings of your Grandpop's. If you look for Patricia/Patsey/Patsy Williams in the 1910 Census with Marion , you'll find them in Oldham County, KY.
I have been told that one of my grandmother's brothers went by the name of "Mike". That he lied about his age to enter the war(WWI). This would fit the timing of your grandpop, wouldn't it? Was your grandpop in the service? Did he then serve in both World Wars?
This family research journey is a fascinating one but I'm still not able to locate the information I need on JR Flaherty.
I'd love to see the picture you've spoken of.
