re the Elkhorn book, I wonder if there is any mention of the Faris family, Erskine and Mabel who had a daughter born there in about 1928 or 29.

Thank you

Hi Marilyn,

Am wondering if you could do a lookup for me in the Oak Lake "Ox Roads To Blacktop" and see if there is any mention of Reverend David Miller and family who was a United Church Minister in Oak Lake and possibly surrounding area in the late 1930's on.

My e-mail address is alberta@mb.sympatico.ca.

Thanks in advance.

Look up, please in the Birtle "A View of the Birdtail" book.
Looking for a Charley Davis born in Winnipeg 1895. Have found him in 1911 census at age 16 in Portage La Prairie as a student. We know that he settled in Birtle, married and had his family there.
daughters - Dorothy b: 26 Sept 1919
Betty b: 1920s
Mother's name could be Annie
Any information would be a big help to try and fill in some of the gaps.

Wondered if you had any information in your books about Boissevain, Man. Joseph Young was a constable in the town in 1927 when "The Strangler", a serial killer went through and was arrested. Joe Young apparently had a hand in the arrest. Anything about of interest about this arrest would be appreciated. Also would love to know what happened to Joseph and his wife Mary Jane (Fitzpatrick/Patrick), after 1927. They are not buried in the Boissevain cemetery and don't know where they went.
Thank you.

Hello Bonnie,
There's a book called "Crimes of the Century" (Manitoba's Most Notorious True Crimes) by Bill Redekop. There's a chapter on "The Strangler" and his eventual arrest in Killarney, MB. Unfortunately, there is no mention of Constable Joe Young in this particular write-up.

Thank you so much. I did find one small reference to Joseph Young in the Brandon Free Press - just his name mentioned but that was enough to confirm who he was! Thanks anyway for looking.
