I am looking for relatives and information about the Gilland family that resided or resides in Ripley County (Osgood) Indiana. Information about Archibald Gilland (Gilliland) etc. There aren't many of us left who remember the others!

I guess you saw the write up of "The Gillands of Ripley County" in the Ripley County Indiana History Volume II concerning Archibald J. Gilland and his wife Margaret from Great Britian and their seven children Daniel, Archibald, June, Edward, David, Francis and Margaret.

I am from a Gilliland of Ripley County. However, I'm not linked with Archibald, that I know of. My Grandmother Lulla Cole was a Gilliland. Lulla's mother is Florence (Gilliland) Cole from Samuel C. Gilliland b. 1/4/1834 in Cross Plains, d. 7/29/1897 in Cross Plains married Louisa M. Hart-Walker b. in Belleville, IN. Samuel's father is William F. Gilliland b. 2/1/1808 in PA d. 3/29/1885 married Margeret Conyer 11/29/1832. William F. Gilliland's father is Richard b.1765 d. 1838 (guess, I believe this is the Richard Gilliland in the Ripley County Interments for the Gilliland Cemetery in Cross Plains). I have names of Samuel C. Rick, If you are of the Osgood Gillands. you are a relative. I have about 500 names who are immediate relatives with some of them being "shirt tail" relatives. Archibald J. Gilland, who died in Andersonville prison GA., and who was a Sgt in the Union Army (Ohio 27th Co F) was a great. maybe (great, I'd have to look) great grandfather.
