There was also just a post a couple of weeks ago on your William, so maybe you should contact that person (copy of mail below, but check the new listings on the forum):

"I believe your William Broome b 1753 is the brother of Walker Broome b 1763, my ancestor, who married Rebecca Hargett, through their son Walker Broome b 1802 and his wife Martha."
