There were two Samuel Battles in St.Clair/Etowah Co., Ala. The one who was married to Nancy was born c. 1788 in Virginia. The 1850 Census of St. Clair Co. shows children as Nancy, Elisha, and Dolly C. This Samuel was the son of William Noel Battles and Elizabeth Hopper. I do not know who the other Samuel's parents were.
