Hello Vanessa.

I realise the post about The Firs Maternity Home is old, but I have been fascinated by the information I have read in the posts. I had not realised it's history! I had my eldest son there in February 1967, and have very fond memories of it, and my care there. How things have changed though, no fathers allowed, alone right through a nights labor, but wonderful nurses at the delivery. I remember being woken just after 4 am to feed my son, then bath at 4.30, breakfast at 5am!! I have a picture in my mind of how it looked, but would love to have one to look at. If I am correct it was demolished to make way for a daul carriageway and roundabout? I have only met two people who remember it .. and of cours it was in Hampshire back then! Any information would be appreciated, as my son is asking about where he was born.

Thanks in advance, Beth.
