once again, i come asking for directions...
please help me, if you can advise.
i wrote to the military personnel records center in st. louis, mo for information on william ford, entered military [navy] in 1917 in a special recruitment for chaplains training.i researched and found that only the navy did the special recruitment for chaplains in 1917.but i don't know how/where to look for the new recruits that entered the navy training program.
[wm ford, born in wv, 'joined the military in 1917, was sent to china, and made the military his career'.] i got a letter today from st. louis, mo, telling me they need his ss# and military orders, awards, citations, and military addresses, etc., letters to relatives...i know he was born in wv, but not the year, nor the county where he was born..i do not know his middle name.i do not know his parents' names.ok, how do i find the social security records? i will go through every william ford from 1885 to 1900, although in 1917 all these new recruits has to be 21 years old, unless he 'lied'. i did this once, only scanning for military/army/navy/marines chaplains, and keyword 'china'
i have looked everywhere for stationed in china military, i have looked on ships records, no chaplains. i looked at marines at the chinese embassy in north china in what was shanghi, no chaplains...i have emailed every military blogger/contact i could find...no answers...i think he was sent to the navy base in north or south carolina for chaplain training...i could not find any info on the training facility, nor the inductees trained there...where do i go from here?
