Ancestry is holding on tight to their matching formula, at least at the moment. As you probably know, they do not have a chromosome browser, and it doesn't appear to be a priority right now. They did provide the really raw data, and that's probably the best we can get for a while. That's why sites like yours and David Pike's are extremely valuable for ancestryDNA customers.
As far as the numbers, 20k gives me enough info to go on (it could have been 2,000 or 200,000, I wasn't sure). It's not clear how many Family Finder customers there are, but if it's like ancestry, I suspect most of them don't try to download their data. That means there probabily will be a benefit to uploading the ancestry data. I'm assuming they'll convert it to their own internal format, so it might even allow you to then download a match file.
