Thank you for the information about Adaline, that was one piece I did have, but I do appreciate you passing it on to me.

If you don't mind checking out the family file at the museum, that would be of great help to me. Thank you for the very kind offer.

The family file did not have much -- the 1871 census info; a note about a John Besau working as a mechanic in Altona Village about 1862, age about 31. Also a George Besau working in Stouffville. James is noted as living on the northeast corner (1 acre) of Lot 35, Concession 3, Uxbridge Township.

Checked the 1861 census as found the following:

Beso, James, Cooper, b. Canada, Methodist, 30
Beso, Mary. b. Canada, no church, 24(?)
Beso, Marg J., b. Canada, no church, 8
Beso, Branervi(?), female, b. Canada, no church, 5
Beso, Sophia, b. Canada, no church, 3

Also:
Besaw, Mary, b. Upper Canada, 17, Methodist,
(living with the family of James Cooper, innkeeper)

Also found the following in the Uxbridge Journal, dated July 20, 1882. I've given just the highlights -- a fairly lengthy article:

Lemeul John Besau, age about 22, of Uxbridge, committed suicide on Saturday, July 15, 1882 in Toronto. He had been married only about two weeks to a Miss Elmskay of Port Perry, and were in Toronto on their wedding tour, staying with his brother-in-law, Mr. Anderson, the night foreman at the Nippising Railway Yards -- residence at 33 Tait Street, near the Don River. He took a dose of laundanum and expired a few hours later. He was employed as a painter in the Nippising Railway car factory and was in ill health, but good spirits, when he went to the city.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much Eileen, everything is a hugh help. I knew Lemeul died young, but had no idea how or why. That bit of info was very interesting.

I greatly appreciate all your help. Thank you again.
Warm of Wishes.

I had posted back to Jem about the contents of the Besso file, which has now been transferred to the genealogy room of the Uxbridge Library. If you have more current information, I know they would be happy to have a copy to put in the file.

Are you looking for something specifically. Can I help you find something?
