Carol  (View posts) Posted: 22 Jan 2000 7:17AM GMT
Now I've got my hopes up...maybe this is a link we both have been looking for...my e mail address is lilypad90@peoplepc.com. Send me something directly there so I will be able to get your e mail address. That way we won't have to go thru this site and keep replying. I hope this is our lucky day on finding out some stuff.

Info about W.Va. Whitehairs

Randy  (View posts) Posted: 2 Mar 2000 8:05AM GMT
Carol and Sue Ann,

I'm sorry you two took this off-line. It was very interesting. I'm looking for info on a woman who may be my greatgrandmother, Virginia Ruth Whitehair (may have married Sigler Phillip Cross July 21, 1907 in Tyler Co. West Virginia).

I believe she was born around abouts St. Mary's West Virginia. My grandmother is Virginia Lucrettia Cross (born 11/20/09). Her mother would have been born in the late 1800s. This may be the woman you two are also looking for.

My family has always held that my greatgrandma was Cherokee. There really isn't much dispute about this in the family.

Please let me know any info you can provide relative to this. I'm willing to share additional info as well.

Thanks,

Randy, your potential distant relative

Hi Sue An,
If you contact me directly I can give you much info on Inez's ancestors. I can tell you that she married Maxville Davis 25 Jan 1893 in Taylor County and I know nothing of their descendents.

Sue, I can't remember who I've answered and who I haven't. I've got the Whitehairs back now to almost 1800. Found a lot of interesting info on them. Yes my grandmother was born in the mid 1870's.

WHITEHAIR Family

Ajsim  (View posts) Posted: 9 Apr 2000 10:04AM GMT
Randy,

I am a studier of the Whitehair families.

Sigler Cross married Bird Whitehair, Jul 18, 1889, in Ritchie County, WV.
This is the name given in the WV marriage records. I do not have a Bird Whitehair in my database tied to my known set of Whitehairs. I only have this marriage record. This could have been a pet name.

I don't believe your GGrandmother is the Virginia mentioned as the daughter of Thomas and Loula. I have her married to a Shaver.

I have another Virginia but she is in the wrong time period, being born in 1852, the d/o James and Louisa (Shadrack) WH.

Virginia C was born in 1862, the d/o Henry J and Martha J (Giles) WH.

If you have resolved anything, I would appreciate info. Also if you have anyway of ascertaining the Cherokee connection to the Whitehairs I would be very interested. I know some Whitehairs married Melungeons but have not been able to find other than folklore that there was a Cherokee connection.
Thanks,
Jim Simon
