Did you ever have any luck finding information on the Steichens? Joseph Steichen homesteaded in Blaine Township Section 21 SW 1/4. Nick Steichen homesteaded two quarters. Blaine township, Section 17 SW 1/4, and Blaine township Section 20 NW 1/4. John Steichen homesteaded in Blaine township, Section 20 NE 1/4. The land is still in the family today. I can get copies og the township layout if you like.Nicholas Steichen married Frances Schmidt in 1913. I have a copy of the wedding picture and invitation. She was my great-aunt.
