I have recently helped my 14 yr old son to complete a family tree as a school project and went back as far as my husbands great, great grandfather. Should you be interested, I can forward all the details I have, very little, but we would like to know more about him. He was born in Langenhermsdorf, of the town LiegnitzBundesstat Silesie - this we found on his Release Certificate from the Prussion Army, but futher documentation shows Bullendorf in Freistat on teh 1/9/1854. I have his school leaving certifcate from the Royal Academy and Orphanage at Bullichau and this says "son of the Commissioner Schmoke of Zullichau"
He then became a Rhenish Missionary which was formed in Elberfeld Germany and later moved to Wupperthal in Germany. When he came to South Africa in 1878 as a Missionary, he ended up in Wupperthal, South Africa where he lived out his life.
I would really like to know more about this man's parentage and if he had any siblings.
This geneology bug has really "caught" me and I am now doing one on my ancestors for my nephews.
Kind regards
