Emilie Rechnagel Klaas was my GG aunt, the sister of Bertha Recknagel Reich my great grandmother. Were you aware Hugo Kaselitz was a Lutheran school teacher at Trinity Luth School in Port Huron, and was boarding at the Klaas home during the 1900 Census taken on June 13, 1900. You probabbly know Hugo and Bertha were married the following year in August. I had the Przewosch connection for the Recknagels, but did not know the Klaas home town and am glad to learn of it. Emilie Recknagel and Carl Klaas were married in Germany 1876. My other research shows Bertha and Emilie had a brother Ludwig born Jan 25, 1828 and christened at Schoenberg, W. Prussia. Other siblings were Eduard Gustav Adolph b Dec 10, 1858 and Jojanna b Feb 12, 1863. All the family members except Ludwig were married when they emigrated to Port Huron. I have quite a bit of Klaas, Recknagel, Kovitz, Misch, Reich information I am willing to share with you. Feel free to contact me (Royal Oak, MI). According to LDS records, Emilie's father George Recknagel was married also to Catherina Kapahnke about 1828 and they had 5 children. He married Susanna Kreuger about 1846. Hjow extensive is your data on the our family names?

I'm looking for information on this family, too. According to the 1880 census, William Klaas(Klass)was born about 1847 in Hanover and was a painter living in Chicago with wife Mary and children Emma, William, and Paulina. Mary (Rewold)was born about 1851 in Germany. Any additional information would be greatly appreciated!

Julius is my Great Grandfather as well. He was married to Ida (Bennet) Klaas. Although there is some temporary confusion, he may be my Great, Great grandfather. I'll have to talk to my Grampa and confirm.

His Father was Henry J. Klaas and he was married to Laura Jrisk.

He was born in Germany.

Edward was brother to Otto, Ida, Bertha, William, Emma and Carl, children to Carl Rudolph Klaas and Ameilia Hulda Recknagel, from the same cities/regions you mention-
