just reading thru some messages and I am a decendent of the Brake Family and saw your message...don't know if this is a still a good email address but for info that I have it is said Jane Matthews was an indian...She was 22 yrs old when she married Ralph and they were married for 24 years. They lived in the area of Humber Sound...this info above was provided by Ralph when he was interviewed at the age of 80 yrs.
Ralph Brake was sent to Nfld in 1772 at the age of 12 years from England.

Re: St(r)ickland/Morgan/Matthews Family of Burgeo Newfoundland
I also have Reuben Sams and Frances "Fanny" Organ as my 3rd great grandparents. My 2nd great grandmother was their daughter Maria Sams who married Robert Butler. They came to Boston circa 1896. My great grandmother Mary Caroline Butler was born in Newfoundland in October 1891. I am looking for the parents of Robert Butler (Catholic) and Fanny Organ and Reuben Sams. Any information would be greatly appreciated. I will share all info that I have regarding these lines.
Thanks!

Stricklands of Isle Aux Morts

Their children: twins: Frances & George born 1906 Melita born ? Frances married 1.William Organ (lost at sea Aug.25, 1927) 2. Philip Seymour George married Marjorie? Melita married 1.Wilson Greene (lost at sea Aug.25, 1927) 2. Charles Martin I haven't been able to confirm parents for Robert and /or Lillian. Any nudge in the right direction would be appreciated.
