Debra, I have very little on George Washington Barfield. This was written down by my grandmother, Gladys Barfield Heath.
George Barfield was Miles Barfield father. Miles Barfield was married to Rose Ella Hyman.
Miles Barfield was born April 14, 1874 in Tensas Parish, La he died May 27 1913 Winnsboro, La and is buried there also.

Miles fathers name was George Washington Barfield born 1844 and married Olivia B. Norrid on May 9, 1871 in Franklin Parish, Louisiana.
George Washington Barfield's father was Miles Barfield born in Jefferson County, Mississippi.

I found this in some of my grandmother's papers that she wrote:
George's mother left her husband because he was such a high tempered man. I think they were very well to do but he made it miserable for her. Mother said one time he tossed all her lovely clothes in a well. Another time when he was napping on the end of the porch resting his head on a saddle his horse came up and nuzzled him on his face and before he knew what he had done he slit his horses throat. Georges mother left her husband . Rumor has it that she married a rich Indian chief from Oklahoma.

It is also my understanding that George Washington Barfield and a friend of his was talking one day in a store and the friend said something George did not like...George got so mad that he passed out...face got red...he died later that day.

This is all I know and all I can find. I do know that a lot of the Barfields were a part of the Franklin Sharpshooters during the Civil War.

My mother had some cousins that lived there..one of the names I can remember is Doris Roberts. My mother was Wilma Heath Young, daughter of Bill and Gladys Heath of Mangham, Louisiana.
