I know this is an old post, but my father, Gilbert Garrett (GG) was a brother to Pearl Garrett Rice, who married Lewis Rice. Aunt Pearl, has a daughter, "sissy" nickname, Mary Johnson was her name, Edward, Willie Sherman, and "slick" Lewis Rice (I am assuming a jr.) All are deceased now. I dont remember the year that Aunt Pearl died. I remember well, when Edward died. He had a blood clot in the leg and it went to his heart. He had a daughter, Sandra Kay and a son named Bobby. I grew up in my grandmother's home at 1402 4th Avenue. America died in April 1972 and is buried in Woodmere Cemetary beside my father, Gilbert Garrett. America was actually a second cousin of Devil Anse Hatfield. She was the daughter of Wallace and Melvina Hatfield.
