I am researching Philip Crabbs father of Susan Crabbs. Susan was born Oct 20, 1816 in Ohio. She was married to John Edgington. I am the great grand daughter of John Edgington and Sarah Crabbs. Philip may have been Abrahams brother. I have some info on Abraham Crabbs born March 11, 1767 in Washington County Pennsylavania to Henry Krebbs (Crabbs) and Sarah Keller. There were 8 children. Abraham may have moved to Jefferson County Ohio around Steubenville after marriage. Contact me if you want this information and sources

Hi!

We are just beginning to do some research on my mother's side of the family. Our great grandfather was John Clinton Crabbs, and his father was John Crabbs. They go back to Abraham Krebs and Thankful Austin/Lyons and then to Philip Heinrich Krebs from Germany. Maybe we're in the same line? They are from Pa, Ohio, and Michigan. I'd especially love to go back further than Philip Heinrich Krebs.

Thanks!

Hi, Lelah!

I am a descendant of Abraham Crabs and Thankful Austin.

At this point, Philip Heinrich Krebs is as far as people have been able to research - he came from Germany on the ship Peggy on 24 Sept 1753. Unfortunately, the trail goes cold from there but with new info coming forward on a daily basis, perhaps someone will be able to figure out what town he came from. Some trees have erroneously attached Philip to Johann Krebs and Barbara Krim - they are not Philip Heinrich's parents - the wills of both parents bear this out.

There have been a few trees which say Abraham Crabs married a Thankful Lyons but no one has provided some sort of documentation to that effect as of yet. However, my 3rd great grandmother who was Thankful's youngest surviving daughter left family bible records that state her mother's last name was Austin. David Crabs the oldest child of Thankful and Abraham, named a son Austin Crabs, which seems to bear out that the last name of Thankful was indeed Austin. As of yet, I have found no one who had Lyons as their middle name (as was the practice at the time).

Would love to know your tie into the Crabs line, which son are you a descendant from - I am glad to meet another cousin!

Julie

Dear Julie,

Thank you so much for the information! I am the sister of Susan Magyar, and our grandfather was Herbert John Crabbs the son of John Clinton Crabbs of Ohio/Michigan. Where are you on the family tree, cousin? :o) Please send me anything you find, as we are just starting. By the way, I have John Clinton Crabbs' wife Minerva Lavina Packer's family on my Crabbs Family Tree back to the 1500's if you are interested. The Maris family did all of that work.

Thanks again!
