Bouton was names after James Bouton, a farmer who sold the land for the town. He had a brother Burr Bouton that is buried in the Woodward cemetery. James moved to Lamoni area and is buried in cemetery there. The town was first called Allegon and later named Bouton. Incorperated in 1911. I have seen another Bouton Buried in the Xenia Cemetery which is 2 miles west of Woodward. Bouton is located 30 miles northwest of Des Moines, Iowa. five miles west of Perry.
