Update: On the 1900 Federal Census for Hardin County, Tennessee, Martha C. Brumley is the Head of Household. Her children, William A., Ida Bell, Daniel, and Robert are living with her as well as Robert's wife, Ida B. and their two sons, John C. and Robert C. Brumley.

The census indicates that Martha C. Brumley was born in January 1841 in Georgia. Martha is my grandfather's mother.

Q: Has anyone found proof that Martha's maiden name is Clement(s)?
Q: Does anyone know where in Georgia Martha C. Brumley was born?

My grandfather, Robert Ira Brumley (1874-1930) was born in October 1874 in Alabama. His wife Ida B. was born in June 1880 in Tennessee. They were married in Marion County in 1895. One of their sons, John C. was born in November 1897 in Alabama. The other son, Robert C. was in October 1899 in Tennessee. From family stories these sons went by their middle names, Carmen and Carter. I have quite a few questions here.

Q: Does anyone know whether Ida B. Brumley is really a Brumley cousin?
Q: Does anyone know which son had which middle name? Example: John Carmen Brumley or John Carter Brumley?
Q: Are Carmen and Carter family surnames on either side?
Q: Does anyone know where in Tennessee Ida B. and Robert C. Brumley were born?

Looking at the Stidham Family Tree, http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d..., I find that Harriet Eldona "Donie" Stidham's 3rd husband is Columbus M. Bailey. Harriet would have married Columbus after 1915 since her last child by her 2nd husband was born in 1915.

I also see in this same family tree that Mila "Mollie" Ann (Mileann)Stidham's 3rd husband is Columbus Bailey. Mila's last child by her 1st husband was born in 1902. There are no dates listed for her marraige to either her 2nd or 3rd husband.

Could it be that both these Stidham women married the same Columbus Bailey??? Does anyone have better information?

Looking at the Stidham Family Tree, http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi, one of the daughters of William Aaron Stidham & Ella Samantha Scott is Arvilla Stidham. In the index there are 2 Arvilla's with the exact same birth & death dates; yet, the parents are very different.

Do you know which set of parents are correct for Arvilla Stidham???

I rechecked the Marion Co., Alabama cemetery records and see that Arvilla A. Stidham's stone reads: "Arvell A. Stidham, Dau. of W. A. & E. D Stidham - July 3, 1901-Nov. 2, 1903." So, her parents would be William Aaron and Ella Stidham. William Parker Stidham would be her grandfather. I will correct the Stidham* Family Tree. Some sources have Arvilla Stidham dying in Kent, Missouri at age 71. Know who that would be?

Thanks for the clarification. I don't know who would be the Kent Missouri person unless there is an Arvilla Stidham other than Arvell that you've specified.

I'm mainly researching the Brumley's so I don't know very much about the Stidham's other than they connect to my grandfather's half-sister, Martha S. Brumley Williams; and, there are 3 other Brumley's listed in the Stidham family tree.

My grand-father is Robert Ira Brumley (1874-1930).

In this post, it states "I've also found a Milley Cox (maybe your Mary??) married to Peter Martin Scott. Peter is the son of Wesley J. Stidham (born 10-15-1846) and Sarah Permilla Scott (born 9-26-1858)."

In the Stidham family tree, http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&d..., there are a few Peter Scott's, Peter M. Scott's, & Peter Martin Scott's.

For the one who married Milley Cox, it shows that Peter Martin Scott's father is Peter Martin Scott. Would Peter Martin Scott take his mother's surname instead of his father's surname of Stidham??
