Just a quick example, David. I have some Flemings in my tree. The Flemings and the Barrys were neighbors in West Cork, and there were some Fleming-Barry marriages but none that I have identified in my direct line. The other day I was contacted by a person who had a match with me, and saw that I had Flemings. We didn't find a common ancestor, but he is now looking more closely at the West Cork records to see if he can find any leads.
As I've mentioned in other threads I keep big spreadsheets with matches who had ancestors in several locations, including West Cork. This has proved to be very useful.
