Great comments. Yes, you are screwed. My bank removed the charge and onegreatfamily fought it and WON!!!!! The bank then removed the money from my account again. They said they believed that I had not cancelled. So what do you do????????

I am trying to figure out what to do right now. I have contacted my bank, but like you, don't have much faith in a favorable resolution.

So far, I have filed a complaint with the BBB, joined a FB page ( http://www.facebook.com/pages/Dont-Trust-OneGreatFamilycom/2... ), and have contacted consumeraction.org (http://www.consumer-action.org/helpdesk/ ) to file another complaint.

$79.95 might not be a lot of money, and OGF may think people are going to continue to allow this. But, guess what? It's MY money, and yours, and hundreds (if not thousands) of other people who feel they have no recourse. I am going to do EVERYTHING in my power to make sure somebody takes a good, long look at this company.

Also file a complaint with Complaintboard.com, it is also seen by many. I finally had to change my debit/chg card and get a new one. Small amts add up to large amounts and that is what they are doing.

I think I have the answer (maybe?). I suggest anyone who has had problems with cancellations and refunds with OGF call the Archives.com billing department directly at 888-896-4442. Archives does the billing for OGF.

On May 8 I signed up for the free trials for both Archives.com and OneGreatFamily.com but saw right away they didn't have what I needed. On the same day I cancelled both, saw the cancellation emails but only opened the Archives one. I assumed the OGF one was cancelled as well.

Today, May 24, I got my credit card statement and saw OGF charged me for the full year. I went back to read the cancellation email and saw I should have clicked on a link to complete the confirmation. I did that then saw I also had to call the cancellation department to complete it.

I called and was told I would have to call Archives billing about a refund at 888-896-4442. I did that and was told they would issue a full refund by the end of the day, send a confirmation email and it should take two or three days to see the refund on my credit card. He said he would also contact OGF to cancel my account and stop further billing.

I think OGF is feeling the hurt from all the complaints against them. The woman I spoke to in the cancellation dept sheepishly gave me the information I needed and the biller at Archives was super nice and had no problem giving me the refund.

Hopefully, all will go as promised and, if not, I'll protest the charge with my credit card company.

Good luck, everyone.

13 July 2012 Onegreatfamily.com -- billing issues
I did not request the subscription that was tagged onto the Archives application -- which I didn't know about until after receiving a "welcome" from Archvies.
I do not want ONEGREATFAMILY.com subscription -- I cannot access anything and you do not respond to my queries about access.
Cancel my subscription and refund the 59.88 US billed to me on 28 Jun 2012.
What you are doing should be illegal.

You can also go through your credit card company and sign a statement that you did not want to allow OGF to charge to your account and make a complaint to the credit card company. I think you should also send a consumer complaint to the BBC and consumer complaint of the federal government at FederalReserveConsumerHelp.gov or 888 581 1920. As you can see yours is not the only complaint about them. I wish every person who is doing genealogy had a subscription to ancestry.com where they could access this info. Let us know if you got a refund...me they simply extended my "membership".
