I know this is a very old post, but I have quite a bit of info on the Lindquist family of St. Croix. My records show that the immigrant Lindquist (Carl) worked many years as a manager on others' estates. Then by 1880 he was living on St. John on land of his own - presumably purchased with his own money.
I have a Daisy Lindquist b. 1914 in Puerto Rico (PR), the daughter of Cyril Lindquist (b.1888 STX) and Milly Schuster.
Cyril had a total of 17 children by three women as follows:
with Emily "Milly" Schuster:
Thelma b. abt 1910
Kathleen b. abt 1912
Daisy b. abt 1914
Leroy b. 1917
with Marie Tessonier:
Ana Marie b. 1919/1920
William b. 1925/1926
with Anna E. Chardon y Machado:
Daisy. b. abtt 1930
Cyril b. 1936
Carmen b. abt 1944
and the following children (dates unknown):
Christian
Albert
Nilda
Clara
Ana
Jacqueline
(There is some question as to the certainty of which some of the children were the child of which mother.)
Cyril's father was Francis "Frank" Lindquist b. 1857 at Cinnamon Bay, St. John. He married Anna (last name unknown)and had six children:
Mabel b. abt 1884
Manfred Alexander b. 1886
Cyril Augusto b. 1888
Ethel b. abt 1890
Leila b. abt 1893 (m. a Christiansen)
Paul b. 1902 (m. Rosie Lewis)
Frank Lindquist (b. 1857 in St. John) was the son of Carl Alexander Lindquist (b. 1809 in Denmark) He came to St. Croix before 1850 when he is enumerated in the census as manager of Mount Victory. There he met Margarith Armstrong by whom he had the following children:
Mary Ann b. abt 1849
Charles b. abit 1850
Henriette b. abt 1852 (married Richard Penn)
Caroline b. abt 1855
Marie Elizabeth b. abt 1856
Frank b. 1857
Georgine Adriane b. abt 1859 (m. a Steele)
John Emmanuel b. abt 1864 (m. Genevieve --)
Eleanora b. abt 1865
