How/why is it that you conclude there is no New York County now?

New York County is the island of Manhattan and the surrounding minor islands in New York Harbor. It is one of the 5 counties that comprise the municipality of New York City, the others being Kings (Brooklyn), Queens, Bronx and Richmond (Staten Island).

You can contact them to see if there are other documents associated with the Kennedy will. You should be aware of that the records are held off-site and take several weeks to be located and sent to the administrative offices once a record (if any) is located. In addition, I have seen comments on these boards to the effect that their search fees are very high. Thus, you might also consider a separate post to see if someone will go in person to make the request and go back to look at what shows up. In person requests are free.
