DEATH OF MRS. DITCH

Pioneer of this County Passes Away After Lingering Illness

Mrs. Daniel Ditch died at the home of her son, Robert Ditch, west of town Monday evening, June 16, 1913, after suffering an illness the past five months, which she bore patiently to the end.

Mary Kellar was born in Indiana county, Pennsylvania 1828, and spent her girlhood days with her parents. May 1, 1852 she was united in marriage to Mr. Daniel Ditch in Pennsylvania, to this union eleven children was born, two of whom died in infancy. William V. died a number of years ago; Wilson, resides at Richmond, Virginia; Henry died some years ago; Mrs. Mary Reed, Bently, Alta, Canada; Robert Q. West Bend, Iowa; Grant, Groverland, N. Y.; John, Mallard, Iowa; Mrs. Alice Zitek, Vergas, Minn.; and Mrs. Maggie Sites, Harding, S. D.

With her husband they went to Benton county, Iowa, and resided for a time, than (sic) locating on a homestead near West Bend, where they shared the vississitudes of fortune such as come to the lot of the early settlers and met them all with the courage and determination which insures success.

Funeral was held from the M.E. church and the remains entered in the West Bend Cemetery.

With the family and their many friends the Journal condoles over taking off of a kind woman and trusts that to all upon whom sorrow now has cast the pall of lonliness and grief the good record left by this noble woman will bring abundant comfort and consolation.
