Frances Osborn - died Dunedin 1941

Does anyone have a connection to Frances Osborn who died in Dunedin in 1941. Her parents were Thomas Lester Osborn and Frances Mary Jones. They married in Chatham Kent in 1855 before arriving in NZ in 1860.

Frances had a brother Thomas Lester born Kent 1857 and a sister Annie Jane born NZ in 1861.

Am trying to connect this family to another family, Talbot, who were present in Chatham Kent as well as Christchurch. Anyone with connections to, or information on, this family I would love to hear from

Hi

Frances OSBORN (1941) as you are probably aware, died a spinster (according to the Dunedin cemetery record).

So are you suggesting that she may have had descendants ???

(There doesn't appear to be a connection through marriage to the name TALBOT, for her siblings, either).

Perhaps you could supply the names of the TALBOT family who were in Kent and Christchurch ? Somebody may just recognise those ?

Her death certificate also says she was a spinster with no issue. I have a Fraser Talbot marrying in Melbourne and he names Albert James Talbot and Fanny Osborne as his parents, his birth place Auckland c1896. His birth details I cant locate.

Alberts family moved to New Zealand from the UK via Australia (Albert James born in Melbourne 1876). While they were from Portsmouth in Hampshire the family had spent time in Chatham Kent, which coincides with where the Osborn family came from. An interesting occurrance.

If Fraser was born out of wedlock, and possibly not raised by his parents, it may explain why Frances is noted as a spinster

Albert died in Christchurch in 1950, Fraser in Melbourne in 1966

And this Frances Mary OSBORN (not OSBORNE) is some 17 years older than Alfred James TALBOT !!! ???

Perhaps you could make a request for any (NZ) school records for Fraser TALBOT or OSBORNE - to ascertain parent or guardian's name ???

It is possible too, that Frances Mary OSBORN (and yes, noting that that was her mother's name also), may appear on the 1893 (all of NZ) Electoral roll ?

Of course 1893 is not the birth year for Fraser TALBOT, but it might be helpful to your search, to find out where Miss Frances Mary, was living at that time.

Thank you for the links - will see what I can find.

Certainly the Thomas L is related - her father.

The Talbots were Christchurch and it looks like the Osborns were also - just a matter of finding a link

Thanks again

Osborn burials here in Balcairn cemetery:

Perhaps the connection is through occupation - Albert was a builder - could he have worked for or with Frances' father who was also a builder.

I have no idea if this is any help but an Alice May Osborne married a George Daniel Talbot in 1897.

George Daniel Talbot is on the registrar generals birth index but there are no parents listed on the database.
