I'm trying real hard not to use translators; each time I see a translation, I learn that much more French. The baptism records are the easiest for me.....you helped a great deal on that death record.....I have a model that helps me with others.

Now, I have a marriage record that I was able to partly translate, but not all. It is in Ontario, where half the book is in English, and the other half in French. The problem lies in the fact that its not the same priest, but MANY. The priest that did this marriage record has poor hand writing (his 'a's are horrendous), and his 'style' is different than others. Mind helping me out on some of it? It comes with a mystery too!

Here is the mystery. Family legend is she got married at 15 (she's listed in the document as 16)..problem is, she is actually 20! I've seen her baptism record, and she put her family dates and data down in the mid 1800's which I've found already, so I know this is the right person without question, and she is 20! Why? I don't know why she would lie. Her mother died when she was @ 10 years old and her father was a 'voyageur', off to the gold fields of California when she was 9. She ended up being raised partly by her grandparents. Why lie, and say your younger? I was hoping the marriage record might help solve part of the answer. I noticed that her husband, aged 22, has told the priest that his parents are deceased, but I can't tell that Alphonsine told the priest that her mother is deceased. And at 16, doesn't she need parental or guardian approval for marriage?
I can't read the last section of the document, and I've tried, believe me--just after "Mary Anne Foubert" (the slash on the 'f' is missing or faded). Would you help me?
