I found through the LDS library that my gggg-grandfather was William Caddies born about 1800 in Ireland and died 6APR1880 in Catrine, Ayrshire married Hannah McCullough born about 1800 Ireland died 15MAY1874 in Ayr, Ayrshire. They married 28SEP1823 in Saint Quivox, Ayrshire. I would be happy to share any info I have. I have only just found your message. I too am related to the Caddies clan from Ayr. The William Caddies I am related to lived in St Quivox & Newton, Ayr Scotland. My William Caddies married an Ann Walkinshaw in June or July (have conflicting dates here) in 1856. David Caddies (my Grandfather was the grandson of William Caddies and Ann Walkinshaw. Unfortunately I can only go this far back before I run into a blank wall. If you could enlighten me I would appreciate it.

Hi Juliee,
My Great Grandmother on my fathers side was an Agnes Caddies, at this stage I don't know her date of birth. However she lived in Kilmarnock & married a Joseph Cree on 16 June, 1873 & I believe they had several children. My Grandmother Helen Cree I think was their last. Hope that this is some help & there may be a connection.
Regards,
James Millar

Hello James,

Just thought I would follow up with you. I have found some info, though no direct tie to Agnes Caddies. Here is what I have found: Annie Christie Caddis b. 1903 Ayrshire SCO. Dau. of Hugh Caddis b. 1880? and Annie Kelley b.? both of Ayr. I am listing the spelling as Caddis though I have seen it listed as Caddies on a couple of sites. I am happy to have located some information and hope to find more in the future. Who knows, maybe somewhere back there there is a connection.
Best Regards,
Juliee Hanlon

Just thought I'd let you know that Hugh (6 months old at the time of the information) was my grandfather. I believe there were another 4 children born after Hugh.
I will be back with lots more information as my father can remember a lot more than me. My father still lives in Ayr, Scotland.
If it would be helpful, please let me know your email address and I'll email you directly. ..................... David.

Hello David, It is nice to hear from another relative! I would love to hear more information. I still have many Aunts and Uncles myself in Ayr. My Grandfather died nearly a year ago, and sadly I was unable to get much information from him on my in the years prior to his death due to his poor health. Hugh was also his Grandfather on his maternal side. My email is jhanlonwa@msn.com I look forward to hearing from you.

Best Regards,
Juliee

Hello,
In reviewing the postings I noticed similarities in names and the possibilities that dates and locations match with your posting. I have attached part of a previous posting I listed in the hopes that it may link with your information. I would appreciate it if you would let me know if it matches what you have. Is this Mary the one you mention?

I am tracing the line of a William Blain whose parents were Robert and Margaret Caddis Blane/Blain. My William (born 1847) married Anne Gibson in 1870 in Tarbolton, Ayrshire, Scotland.

There is a Family Group Record on the LDS site for a Robert Blain showing quite a few children with Alexander the oldest, born in 1832.

Is this your branch?

I think this could be the same family. Alexander Blain married margaret cafferty. they had Margaret Caddes born KIlwinning 1864, William Born Tarbolton 1867, Jane born Tarbolton 1861, David Hay born 1873 Coylton and Marion born tarboltom 1870 thay may have had more.
Alexanders parents were Robert Blainborn 1805 riccarton kilmarnock and Margaret Caddis.
Roberts parents were Robert Blain born 1773 kilmarnock and Margaret Tannock born 1777 newton on ayr. They were married 1794 at newton on ayr.
Margaret Tannocks parents were a Robert Tannock and Elizabeth wyllie.
THat all the info I have at the moment ather than my own line to present date

I have a Margaret BLANE born around 1820, married William McHUTCHEON in Coylton in 1840. They then seem to have lived at Stair. Blane is carried on as a middle name by one of their grandaughters and also a great-grandaughter.
More details if you think she would fit into your family.

Looks as though your Alexander and my William were brothers. I am showing Robert and Margaret Caddis Blane had the following children:

Alexander (1832), Mary (1834), Jean (1837), Margaret (c. 1841) Janet (1843), James (1844) William (1847) and John (1850).

My William (abt. 1848) married Annie Gibson (Feb. 11, 1870) in Tarbolton, Ayr. They had Alexander (Jan. 1871), William Gibson (Nov. 1872) and John Brown (April 1875 died Oct. 1875). Annie's parents were William Gibson and Ann Small. William Gibson Blane married Mary K. O'Hara and had 10 children.

There are other children listed on the 1881 census Thomas Gibson (1868), Robert (1878) and James Carley (1880) but I can find no further record of them.

There is a Family Group Record for a Thomas Blane (1843) who married Annie Gibson (1847) whose son is Thomas Gibson Blane (abt. 1869) and I wonder whether he just visiting William Blane even though he was listed on the 1881 census as a son. But the naming pattern isn't correct.

Contact me off line if you need anything else.
