Now there are ALLOT of Finnigans around. that's because the start of the name Finnigan in ancient Ireland came from the phrase "the fair headed one." I wonder if they mean color of hair, or train of thought?. But either way it makes it such a common name like Smith or Jones or Johnson. I have a friend in Ireland and she told me there is bar called "The Finnigan Pub." Now from ancestry.com I ran into a distant cousin in the finnigan family that's related to me. He loves doing the research, so he gave me all the info and it came right up to my father, uncle, and half sister.It's Mike Covel. My father Peter John Finnigan and my uncle Andrew Finnigan were both born in the United Kingdom. Their parents are Albert Finnigan and Florrie Wood. The great grand father is Thomas Finnigan. The classic Finnigan family crest is a falcon alighting proper. and the classic family motto is "I would rather die than be dishonorable"
