If you have tested Y-DNA and can let me have your results that would be a most welcome and useful addition to my FamilyTreeDNA project, entitled:

LAYTON surname UK

"Goals: What we need are Y-DNA comparisons with more Layton group members, especially those male Laytons who can trace their ancestry back to Norfolk, but also other Layton branches with UK origins outside the county. By building up a database of Layton clans originating in different parts of Britain it should be possible to help overseas families to locate the most likely regions of origin of their emigrant ancestors, thereby facilitating further documentary research. As the Family Tree DNA database is growing day-by-day, more opportunities for comparisons will become available for tracking family origins. Please join us in our quest!"

It would be great to add new Layton results to this small database, as the results (and details/origins of your earliest known Layton ancestors) are much needed if we are to be able both to find connections and differentiate between the many branches of families that adopted these British Layton/Leighton place names.
