How kind of you to share your resources with other AR genealogists!
I am trying to find proof to support a family myth. It may involve someone you have already researched. My Gr-Uncle John Corder m. Malissa Simmons in the early 1900s. In 1896 John L. Corder became the ward of NLC Baker. I do not know who he was. I also do not know what the "NLC" stood for.
I just recently discovered that John's mother was probably not Eliza June Rush who was my grandfather Edward Corder's mother. The 1880 census states that a Louisa born in 1859 was living with Abraham Corder who was Edward and John Corder's father. Uncle John was born in 1881.
Finding an obituary ca 1896 on either Abraham, Louisa or Eliza J. Corder might clear up many things. It could explain what initiated the guardianship. It might also explain why Uncle John inherited the family home. Finding an obituary or article on Eliza June / Jane might confirm a family myth that she committed suicide outside her home near the old Belmont Post Office. I found an Mrs. Eliza Corder who re-married in the early 1890s. So Abraham, Eliza, Louisa and Abraham's parents Reuben and Matilda Corder were all alive as late as 1880. By 1900 their records have all disappeared. I also have no idea who Louisa could have been. So an obituary or newspaper article might really bring me a long ways in solving many of these puzzles.
